The Downtown Minneapolis Neighborhood Association and Green Minneapolis are hosting a neighborhood National Night Out event at The Commons, including a free outdoor movie screening of The Goonies. This event is presented in partnership with the Freestyle Productions, Inc. and Izzy’s Ice Cream. Other activities include visits from the Minneapolis Police and Fire Departments.
The Goonies will air on an LED screen, beginning at 7pm. 1 hour, 54 minutes (PG). Come early to picnic, meet your downtown neighbors, and receive a free scoop of Izzy’s Ice Cream! The DMNA will also be handing out water bottles.
National Night Out is an annual nationwide event that encourages residents to get out in the community, holding block parties and getting to know their neighbors as a way to encourage crime prevention. It’s a great way to promote community-police partnerships and enjoy a Minnesota summer evening surrounded by friends and family.
As with many past National Night Outs, Minneapolis has been ranked #1 among all U.S. cities over 250,000 population for many years, and was ranked #2 in 2018. Over 1,600 events were registered in 2018.
This is not a ‘BYO-alcohol’ event.
