YOUR CHANCE TO PLAY IN THE STREET!
The Downtown Minneapolis Neighborhood Associations, along with several fantastic downtown partners, is hosting a Kids Zone during Downtown Open Streets on Sunday, August 23rd.
First Ave and a portion of Washington will be closed to traffic and turned over to cyclists and pedestrians for fun and games.
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!
To make this inaugural event a success, we need Kids Zone volunteers.Contact [email protected] if you would like to volunteer for any of the positions below.
SET UP CREW (10:00 AM – 11:30 AM) (6 volunteers)
We need folks to unload equipment, set up tents, babysit equipment on the sidewalk and quickly move items into place when the street shuts down to traffic and the event begins at 11:00. It will be part cross-fit and part gentle yoga with some fun “hurry up and wait” thrown in.
AV MASTER (10:30 am – 11:30 am) (1 volunteer)
We need a savvy individual to set up our borrowed sound system. It will not be TOO complicated.
ACTIVITY COORDINATOR (11:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Have a great kids activity you’d like to bring to the street (an art project, junior-safe cross fit, etc.)? We will make room for you.
FACE PAINTER ( VARIOUS SHIFTS — 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
No skill necessary. There are no mirrors at Open Streets.
CHALK ARTISTS (10:45 AM – 11:30 AM) (2 to 3 volunteers)
We need folks to mark the ends of the DMNA Kids Zone with fun chalk lettering. No skill needed. If you have mastered the English alphabet and can crouch low enough to draw on the street, you are fully qualified.
CLEAN UP CREW (4:30 PM – 6:00 PM) (6 volunteers)
Sad. The event is over. Now we need help taking down tents and loading equipment into the moving van. See you next year!
