The Downtown Minneapolis Neighborhood Association Membership vote on a proposal to form two independent neighborhood associations has been canceled.
Based on feedback received during the August engagement meetings as well as lack of board consensus on how to proceed, it has been decided that the process to hold a vote on forming two independent neighborhood associations will be suspended indefinitely. Should a future slate of board members choose to do so, the issue may be revisited.
The DMNA would like to thank all those who provided feedback as well as attended or promoted the engagement meetings. The process provided the DMNA with valuable information and new connections within the downtown community. The DMNA hopes this process has provided a starting point for deeper community engagement.
The September 21st Board Meeting will be held as scheduled at The Depot. Elections for new board members will be held at the Annual Meeting on October 19th. More details to follow.

POSTED AUGUST 10th – 2015
The Downtown Minneapolis Neighborhood Association Membership will vote on a proposal to form two independent neighborhood associations. Public informational/feedback sessions will be held to prepare the Downtown West and Downtown East neighborhoods for this vote.
The DMNA serves Downtown East and Downtown West neighborhoods. On September 21st, DMNA Members will vote to accept or reject a resolution to form two independent neighborhood associations that will serve East and West respectively. Anyone who lives, works or owns property in Downtown East or West is eligible to vote.
To prepare the two neighborhoods for this vote, four informational meetings/feedback sessions will be hosted by the DMNA and facilitated by City staff. This will be the public’s opportunity to learn the details of this proposed change and provide input on the future of our neighborhood association(s).
