By Nine Artists From Northeast Minneapolis Arts District
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn (September 30, 2019) Art @ the bridgewater continues its noted series of rotating exhibits with “Inclusive Space,” October 18, 2019 through January 25, 2020 at The Bridgewater Lofts, 215 10th Avenue South in Minneapolis.
Nine artists from the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District will be featured in the show: Davie Duke, Patricia Canney, Mary Simon-Casati, Michael Johnson, Susan Wagner, Brendan Kramp, Denise Tennen, Gerri Reid Skjervold and Peg Palaskas. An opening night artists’ reception will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the condominium’s lobby.
“Inclusive Space” has been curated by artist Alison Price, whose own Tres Leches Gallery is located in the Northrop King Building. Price has curated thirteen shows for Art @ the bridgewater since its launch in July 2016.
For “Inclusive Space” Price used the compositionalconcepts of positive and negative space as a jumping off point for the new exhibit. “The exhibit is designed to bring the viewer into the art, enveloping them and allowing free exploration of the work,“ she explains. “Some of the work metaphorically holds our heart, our life breath, our imagination. Other works speak to the isolation that some in our community encounter daily. And still others, a physical place to be,” she notes.
