The Downtown Minneapolis Neighborhood Association (DMNA) recognizes that recent federal immigration enforcement activity and related events in the Minneapolis area have affected individuals, families, workers, small businesses, and neighbors throughout our community. Many people living, working, and doing business downtown are experiencing uncertainty, disruption, and concern about personal safety and well-being. If you have questions, or need resources or assistance, please contact us at [email protected]. We are here to support you and connect you with trusted resources during this challenging time.
DMNA is a volunteer-led community organization committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and vibrant downtown for everyone. Our board and volunteers are residents, workers, and stakeholders who care deeply about the well-being of our neighborhood and the people who make downtown their home. We acknowledge that heightened enforcement activity can create fear and stress for many people in our community. Our shared spaces are places of work, commerce, social interaction, and daily life, and all members of our community deserve to feel safe and welcome in them.
We also recognize that recent federal enforcement operations and the responses they have generated have had economic impacts on downtown. Disruptions to foot traffic and daily activity affect small businesses, workers, and service providers that are vital to the health and vitality of our downtown economy.
Our focus remains on supporting the stability and resilience of downtown:
- We encourage residents and businesses to stay connected to trusted local resources for information and support.
- We stand alongside community partners working to promote clear communication, safety, and respectful treatment for all.
- We reaffirm our commitment to downtown’s economic vitality and inclusive character.
The DMNA will continue to monitor developments and share updates from official channels. We will also share resources from the City of Minneapolis and trusted community organizations that support safety, economic health, and community cohesion. Again, if you have questions, or need resources or assistance, please contact us at [email protected]. We are here to support you and connect you with trusted resources during this challenging time.
