RE: Redistricting of Minneapolis City Council Wards
Dear Minneapolis Redistricting Group Members:
We are writing to you today on behalf of the Downtown Minneapolis Neighborhood Association (DMNA) to express our support for the City Council Ward Redistricting Proposal that keeps the Downtown East neighborhood in Ward 3 as outlined in the minutes from the November 29, Redistricting Group meeting.
The DMNA represents people who live in the Downtown East and Downtown West neighborhoods. A portion of the Downtown West neighborhood is in Ward 7, but the balance of that neighborhood and all of Downtown East are in Ward 3. We strongly encourage the Redistricting Group to keep this model intact.
The DMNA has worked hard to establish relationships with the Ward 3 and Ward 7 city council members. They understand the unique issues and challenges that face the downtown community. Moreover, residents from the Downtown East neighborhood helped elect incoming Ward 3 Council Member Michael Rainville. They are looking forward to working with him to develop and implement new initiatives that improve the safety and livability of the downtown community.
If you have any questions about this letter, please feel free to contact us at [email protected], or [email protected].
Sincerely,
Pam McCrea, DMNA Board President
Christie Rock Hantge, DMNA Executive Director
