During the planning process for Phase I of the Neighborhood Revitalization Program, the Downtown Minneapolis Neighborhood Association identified four strategic priority areas to target investment: Arts, Culture & Education; Crime and Safety; Downtown Development; and Housing. These four priorities carried forward to Phase II of the Neighborhood Revitalization Program, as well as in the Neighborhood Priorities Plan.
The goal of the Crime and Safety strategic priority is to ensure that the downtown community is a safe place to live, work, learn, and play. Below are some projects the DMNA has supported with its Crime and Safety monies:
- National Night Out events in Downtown West and Downtown East
- DID Ambassador Program
- Expanded Minneapolis Police Department 1st Precinct Beat Patrol
- Expanded Minneapolis Police Department 1st Precinct Mounted Patrol
- Expanded Minneapolis Police Department 1st Precinct Bicycle Patrol
- Thermal Imaging Equipment for the Minneapolis Fire Department
- Restorative Justice Community Action Program
- Car seats for the Minneapolis Police Department 1st Precinct to transport infants and children
- Skyway Senior Center
