SUMMARY:Neighborhood and Community Engagement: City-Wide Elections Meeting
DESCRIPTION:There will be city-wide meeting on April 16th to determine election procedures for electing neighborhood Representatives for the Neighborhood and Community Engagement Commission (NCEC). Neighborhoods will once again decide on how the election process will be conducted. The Neighborhood and Community Relations Department will be assisting with the election process. \nThis year\, neighborhood districts 1\, 3\, 5 and 7 are up for re-election through the neighborhood election process.  In addition\, 1 Mayoral\, 1 City Council and 1 Park Board position are up for re-appointment through the City’s appointment process. \nThe purpose of the April 16th city-wide meeting is to identify and discuss selection procedures to promote diversity on the commission and to adopt a uniform election process. Procedures determined this year are likely to create the framework for future neighborhood elections. The meeting details are: \nSaturday\, April 16\, 2011\n9:00a.m. to Noon\nWindom Park (Northeast) Recreation Center\n2251 Hayes Street NE \nThe agenda for the day will be as follows: \n9:00a.m. – 9:15 a.m. Registration \n9:15 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Welcome and Introduction \n9:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. Review of options\, promoting diversity\, voting rules and district caucuses \n10:15 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Voting \n10:45 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Results \nThe Selection/Diversity Task Force of the NCEC has developed three voting options\, as well as suggested election procedures.  Follow this link to the suggested Voting Options and Election Procedures.  \nYour neighborhood representative will have the opportunity to vote on these and other possible options. Please note\, if you have other options you would like to see considered on April 16th\, please send them to the NCR office at Community.Engagement@ci.minneapolis.mn.us\, by Monday\, April 11\, 2011. We will send out a final set of options to all neighborhood representatives before the meeting. \nTo encourage greater participation and dialogue\, each neighborhood is asked to send a representative who is empowered to vote\, bylaws permitting\, on behalf of the neighborhood. If your neighborhood organization has more than one neighborhood you may send a representative from each of the neighborhoods your organization represents. An individual can represent one neighborhood. Each representative will get one vote for each of the items. \nIf you have not sent the name(s) of a Representative and alternate to the NCR office\, please do so by Monday\, April 11th.
