DESCRIPTION:The City of Minneapolis issued a request for development proposals for 205 Park Ave. S.\, a Minneapolis-owned lot in the Mill District. Two developers\, Sherman Associate’s and Grand Real Estate Advisers\, submitted applications by the June 10th deadline. City staff are now evaluating the projects and will recommend one to City Council for approval. DESCRIPTION:The Livability Committee meets on the 2nd Monday of the month at a rotating location.  This month we will meet in Room 203 at Open Book. \nMarch Topics: \n\nExpansion of the Downtown Improvement District? \n\nKathryn Reali\, the COO of the Downtown Council & DID\, will attend our meeting to discuss engagement and planning efforts around potential DID expansion areas. The Livability Committee will report back to the board.\nThis information will help inform if/how the DMNA might assume a position or a play a role.\n\n\nProposed Repeal of the Sidewalk Congregation Law\n\nThe City Council will explore repealing a law that prohibits three or more people from congregating on a public sidewalk.  Proponents of the law argue that it is a valuable tool for crowd control and crime prevention. Opponents argue that because the law is selectively enforced\, it should be repealed and replaced with more equitable law enforcement strategies.  (You will find more info in this recent Strib article.)\nA representative from CM Yang’s office\, the proposal’s co-author\, will present the proposal and answer questions. The Livability Committee will discuss this issue and provide recommendations to the Board as to how the DMNA might formally comment on the issue.\n\n\n\n

DESCRIPTION:The DMNA Annual Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday\, October 8.  This year’s annual meeting will take place at Open Book – 1011 Washington Avenue S.  The meeting will start at 6 p.m. \nElections to the DMNA Board of Directors will take place at this meeting.  There are four seats up for election.  Anyone who lives\, works\, or owns property in the Downtown East or Downtown West neighborhoods can run for a seat on the board.  Board members serve a two-year term. \nIf you have an interest in running for the board\, please send an email with your contact information to info@thedmna.org\, by no later than Tuesday\, October 1\, to be included on the pre-printed ballot. \nPromotional Ad
