SUMMARY:Explore Downtown Living May 16 and 17
DESCRIPTION:The Minneapolis Downtown Council and its Intersections: Downtown 2025 Plan Development Committee recently announced the launch of the Explore Downtown Living campaign. \nOn May 16 and 17\, Explore Downtown Living will offer an exclusive tour of 22 residency communities spanning five distinct downtown neighborhoods with an emphasis on showing all the great amenities that can’t be fully shown or appreciated on a property listing. Neighborhoods include the North Loop\, Loring Park\, Central Business District\, Downtown East/Mill District and Northeast. \n“This is an exciting time to be considering a move downtown\,” said Steve Cramer\, President & CEO of the Minneapolis Downtown Council and Downtown Improvement District. “With so much development and growth happening all around us\, downtown is\, now more than ever\, a desired place to call home. We want to make sure people have a chance to explore downtown and decide which neighborhood works best for their lifestyle.” \nDowntown’s population has steadily increased since 2006\, jumping by 18 percent over the past nine years to 38\,909. Explore Downtown Living celebrates and welcomes this trend of downtown residential growth\, and it offers individuals and families—ranging from Millennials to Baby Boomers—a chance to see first-hand some of the apartments available in the downtown area. \nA new website\, ExploreDTLiving.com\, also launched and is designed exclusively to showcase Explore Downtown Living’s featured residencies. It highlights downtown’s specific neighborhoods\, maps out apartment community locations and identifies\, biking\, car-sharing\, parking\, retailers\, and\, restaurants\, making it easier than ever to live downtown and be mobile with or without a vehicle. Explore Downtown Living Field Guides will also be printed and available at the featured communities for those interested in exploring the residential tour. Registration is required and available now on the website. \n“Living Downtown is all about proximity\, community\, and character—Downtown is the only place where jobs\, retail\, grocery\, entertainment\, culture\, recreation\, and living all come together\,” said Mike Ryan\, chair of the 2025 Plan Development Committee and Director of Architecture and Engineering at Ryan Companies. “Explore Downtown Living is all about showing off the great variety of neighborhoods and living options that exist\, so people can see and find what fits them best.” \nContacts:\nMark Remme\n(507) 290-1452\nmremme@downtownminneapolis.com \nLeah Wong\n(612) 269-7986\nleahw@downtownminneapolis.com \nOne of the 2025 Plan’s 10 main initiatives calls for increasing downtown’s residential population to 70\,000 by the year 2025. Several of its other initiatives complement achieving that goal\, including improved greening and public realm\, creating a consistently compelling downtown experience and becoming a national leader in transportation options\, among others. \nExplore Downtown Living aims to showcase the vibrancy and development currently defining an era of growth and prosperity in the core of our city. A subcommittee of the 2025 Plan’s Development Committee\, co-chaired by Jennifer Gordon (The Excelsior Group) and Brent Webb (Sherman Associates)\, led the initiative and focused on showcasing the vast residential landscape taking shape throughout downtown. \nResidential communities being showcased at Explore Downtown Living include: \n222 Hennepin\n4 Marq\n430 Oak Grove\nBrunsfield North Loop\nChurchill\nDock Street Flats\nGrain Belt\nHeritage Landing\nJunction Flats\nLaSalle and Stage\nLatitude 45\nLoring Park Apartments\nLPM\nMill & Main East/West\nNic on 5th\nPaxon\nRed 20\nSolhavn\nSoltva\nThird North\nVÉLO\nVue \nThe Explore Downtown Living event is being produced by the Minneapolis Downtown Council and the Downtown 2025 Plan Development Committee in partnership with Target\, VON91\, Mpls.St.Paul Magazine\, along with additional partners.\nFollow Explore Downtown Living on social media using the hashtags #ExploreDTLiving\, #1MillionReasons and #2025Plan. \nAbout the Minneapolis Downtown Council: \nFounded in 1955\, and one of the oldest central business associations in the nation\, the Minneapolis Downtown Council (MDC) is a membership-based entity that works to create an extraordinary downtown.
