St. Anthony Falls Heritage Trail
The St. Anthony Falls Heritage Trail opens on May 1, 1996. It is a self-guided tour. It travels
along the Mississippi River on West River Parkway from the Stone Arch Bridge to Hennepin Avenue,
crosses the Hennepin Avenue Bridge onto Nicollet Island, jogs over to
Merriam Street and continues crossing the river on the Merriam Street Bridge, then proceeds on
SE Main Street to the Stone Arch Bridge and crosses on this bridge to
complete the loop. There are a series of signs, interpretive markers,
and kiosks that describe the history of Minneapolis' birthplace.
Guided walking tours are offered by the Minnesota Historical Society Wednesdays through Sundays through October.
