President
Minneapolis Planning Commission

Minneapolis, MN 55419
Dear Mr. McKinley:
At its monthly meeting on August 15, the D.M.R.A. Board of Directors considered a detailed presentation regarding the proposed zoning-change for firearms dealers. Also present at the meeting were Commissioner Scott and a representative of the Mayor's Office. During the presentation, questions were addressed and the proposal discussed.
Following the presentation, this position was unanimously voted by the Board:
POSITION STATEMENT
D.M.R.A. Is concerned about the concentration of firearms dealers and the D.M.R.A. strongly requests that the Minneapolis Planning Commission not restrict the location of federally-licensed firearms dealers to B3C or B4C zones.
In the alternative (should the Planning Commission not support our aforementioned primary request), at least, D.M.R.A. requests that firearms dealers be restricted from locating within 500 feet of property which is used for residential purposes regardless of the underlying zoning.
Yours sincerely,
George H. Rosenquist, Jr.
