Downtown Minneapolis
Residents AssociationJanuary 17, 1995
Dear Potential Supporter:
The Downtown Minneapolis Residents Association, Inc. (DMRA) endorses the Partnership for Downtown Safety and its efforts to improve police service to downtown Minneapolis. We are in full support of a new Central Command Center for the Police Department. We also support the continued service and expansion of the Mounted Patrol.
Safety is always a primary concern of our membership. We live, work, and recreate in one of the most diverse, highly trafficked areas of the state. Our quality of life is largely affected by whether we feel safe walking the sidewalks, entering our homes, leaving our cars, etc. As recent and long-term residents of downtown Minneapolis, we value police presence in our neighborhood and applaud the city's efforts to increase officers in the downtown district.
The Central Command Center is needed, not only to support 84 police officers assigned to downtown, but to serve as an important focal point for safety in downtown Minneapolis. The Central Command Center sends the message that the community is committed to meeting the unique safety needs of the downtown area.
DMRA encourages the entire community to support the Partnership for Downtown Safety. It is important to ensure the continuation of downtown as an attractive place to live.
Sincerely,
Paul Barber
